Dryvit, a brand of Tremco CPG UK, successfully secured and specified project for Teign Housing to support with the thermal upgrade for a block of flats within their local housing stock.
The Laurell Block is a residential tower located in stunning costal town Teignmouth, South Devon. The block consists of one and two bed apartments and is locally managed by Teign Housing. The project was initiated with a focus on sustainability, to deliver lower energy consumption for occupants by delivering a highly efficient building fabric.
Working in partnership with both Templer Home Build and BuildX (Southwest), Dryvit’s Roxsulation Pro system was selected for installation within this renovation project due to its sustainability factors as well as the durability and aesthetical freedom of the system.
Teign Housing selected Roxsulation Pro with a hybrid topcoat for the Laurel Block, due to its durability, aesthetics, and the accompanying technical support from the Dryvit team.
Roxsulation Pro is a cost-effective external wall insulation (EWI) system which enables existing buildings to meet strict energy efficiency requirements. A system fit for costal weather conditions, Roxsulation Pro also provides building owners with the utmost in weather protection, providing a resilient barrier against the elements.
Dryvit hybrid topcoat complements the EWI system selected, perfectly. Featuring both excellent mildew resistant properties, as well as increased flexibility due to its acrylic polymer binders, silicone, and silicate binders. This finish is decorative and visually pleasing due to the extensive colour range available.
Over 760m2 of Dryvit’s Roxsulation Pro and Hybrid Topcoat was installed to the building envelope of the Laurell Block. Finished with two vibrant colour finishes, the newly refurbished residential tower now blends into the picturesque skyline of Teignmouth.
Alongside providing high performance products, the Dryvit team also helped the client with specifications, detailed drawings, technical service, application guidance and on-site support – to ensure a smooth installation process and a great finished result.
