The Swaminarayan Temple secured the INCA Awards New Build Insulation/Render Finish accolade, sponsored by Aluclad systems, in a glittering ceremony at the MacDonald Burlington Hotel in Birmingham.
Home to religious figures practicing the Hindu faith, the Anoopam Mission’s Swaminarayan Temple offers a tranquil space in Uxbridge.
As part of the specification process, careful attention was paid to the design concept, which centered around the client wishing to match the features of an Indian Temple.
To achieve the effect, the architect and client specified Dryvit Outsulation System, combined with a limestone texture finish.
As well as meeting the design criteria, the system was also selected for its long-term durability and adaptability, coupled with energy efficiency. Dryvit offers best in class performance in terms of reducing the carbon footprint of buildings and offering energy efficiencies.
At The Swaminarayan Temple, the installation achieves the desired U-Value of 0.24W/m2K, whilst emulating the natural stone effect within a traditional place of worship.
The installation was carried out by LB&F.
Cayleigh Shanks of Dryvit, said: “The building needed to reflect the internal atmosphere, representing quality, workmanship and tranquility.
“It was a fascinating project to be involved in and we are delighted it was recognised at the INCA awards.”
Dan Lear, Director of LB&F said: “The architects demanded the very best of EWI systems and Dryvit Outsulation with specialist finish lived up to the requirements.
“This was a highly technical, bespoke and detailed project and the end result has produced a fantastic finish.”
Dryvit’s high performance, insulated cladding (external wall insulation and render) systems set the pace in the industry, blending exceptional aesthetics with outstanding performance.
The system’s qualities, comprising of an insulation core and outer weather-proof layers are designed to help buildings stay warm in winter and cool in summer, and offer the perfect fit for the unique demands of modern methods of construction.
Their installation improves the interior comfort of a building and reduces heat loss by up to 40 per cent, delivering significant sustainability and cost savings.
Dryvit systems are also engineered to cope with challenging wind loads, to comply with fire safety standards and to offer resistance to moisture and weather conditions.
Their performance is independently tested and certified and comes with the reassurance of warranties, to ensure peace of mind in the specification process.
Careful attention has also been paid to their look and feel, to offer architects and specifiers a wide degree of design freedom.
This includes a variety of colours and a choice of stunning finishes, including stone, Tuscan glaze, granite, brick and concrete - and with the system’s applied to the exterior envelope, Dryvit also offers significant improvements to a building, without encroaching on valuable interior room space.
Cayleigh added “Dryvit’s performance and credentials are well documented, with installations successfully completed across the UK and internationally.
“Our new, RIBA approved seminar now enables architects and specifiers to understand more about the systems and to understand how they can support their projects.”
The new CPD is the latest initiative from Dryvit, a brand of Tremco Construction Products Group (UK), developed to support specifiers.
Other resources include early-stage technical assistance, NBS specifications, the undertaking of U value and condensation risk calculations, bespoke project detailing support, onsite technical support and the provision of samples for planning approval.
