Built to service the University of Edinburgh, the Holyrood Student Residence is in the heart of Edinburgh’s historic old town. When opened in 2016 the development provided over 1,100 new student rooms and enjoys an array of on-site student resource, amenity and social spaces.
Dryvit worked closely with the Architect, and the Design Team from Balfour Beatty Construction to meet the planning requirements for a project in such a historic and prominent site. As the building was more than 18 metres in height Dryvit's comprehensive BR135 fire approvals were instrumental in satisfying both building control and insurer requirements for the project, which allowed the cost effective expanded polystyrene (EPS) based Outsulation insulated render system to be specified for use on the scheme.
